HIM Thrift Store
by David Black
THE HOPE INTERNATIONAL Missions Thrift Store has had a major face-lift under the direction of Frank Vaughn! On April 27, 2009, the thrift store was emptied of its contents and demolition took place inside. Old shelving was removed, unused electrical outlets and unnecessary rafters were torn down, and boarded up windows were reopened. After two weeks of construction, new shelves were set in place as well as a new check-out counter. These were all graciously donated by Glen Alexander of Hobe Sound Bible Church. Thanks to various donors, new florescent lights were hung. The rafters were painted and the floor was sealed.
The store is now air-conditioned which makes for a more desirable place for the employees and volunteers to work. The shoppers are also benefactors of this welcomed addition!
The maintenance staff at FEA Ministries, Terry Plummer, Matthew Bowen, Nathan Hughes, Bill Cooper, and Lewis Urey, worked diligently on this project along with several volunteers. Tim Boyd, HIM missionary, volunteered faithfully to help accomplish this mission. David Weaver of Missions Helps donated a week of his time. Forrest Wheeler of Hearts and Hands gave unselfishly of himself for two weeks to help with the renovation. Thanks to each of you and may you be richly blessed!
Plans are in the making to create a display area for the three ministries of Hobe Sound focusing primarily on world-wide missions. This will help inform the community of the ministry of each organization and how we are working together to build the Kingdom of Christ.
